Peter Collier - obviously shortsighted |
Why I am against this decission:
- It's a shocking decision without any notice and foresight
- Solar is a very young industry, this will kill the majority of the businesses that have been created in the last few years.
- Australia's solar potential is huge. It's privilleged by nature with high solar irradiation and a great climate. By preventing to allow renewable power to be fed back into the grid at a fair rate, it's waisting this huge potential.
- Australia prefers to pay for expensive, environment polluting oil and send it's money as well as high quality jobs to oil rich regimes in the middle east instead of building up a local renewable energy industry.
- Australia technological level is embarasing and lacks behind the developped world. How else would you describe that in Victoria, Australia's most strict state in regards to solar safety rules, 11% of the installations pose a major security threat? Having said that, in NSW 18.5% of all solar installations have major defects.
According to the Clean Energy Council, the laughable solar lobby group that basically accredits any product from China, there are now 300,000 solar panel installations nationwide.
If 11% to 18.5% pose a major security threat, that means that this concerns 33,000 to 55,500 solar installations in Australia
There is a reason for this poor record, and that reason is very poor political decission making, changing around support schemes from one day to another, making it different in every state, limitting it to very small generator sizes in most states, throwing money at people to install a system, the list goes on.
